ARRIVAL

A rich patchwork of earthy browns welcomed us to Madrid, a sight met with jubilation after so many hours flying!

Within steps of getting off the plane, Madrid was making tempting promises...Gaudi-inspired architecture worthy of the "WOW" response...

...interesting art, on which to ponder & ruminate...

...and food, worthy of consuming in large quantities.

But all that would have to wait, for Madrid was not where we were stopping tonight.

No, we were heading to an ancient Palace in the south, the exquisite gem of Arabic architecture; the ALHAMBRA!

 

Built around some of the ruined parts of the Alhambra is our accommodation...

 

...a former Franciscan Convent, where tonight we dined on suckling pig & paella!
